Following, and One Dominica Beauty Rosa Rodriguez Help Van Stone Bring Newest Radio
Station — Power88 FM The 88 FM with deep ties to the Black Peoples music
community
Philadelphia, PA USA — Power
WVSR 1360.1 Public Internet Radio announced yesterday that its new radio
station — power88.us The FM — would go live at 5 p.m., Wednesday, May. 20, with
a line-up of well-known DJs and around-the-clock music programming. And the
return of the beautiful Rosa Rodriguez, full-time community activist, part-time
model, novice photographer, and music lover in the Dominican Republic has
helped the new radio station launch on the internet.
“Rosa Rodriguez is true when the
people say she cares about people of all walks of life. And we need that type of spirit to help us
stand firm,” says Van Stone. “It’s such a thrill to have Rosa Rodriguez
back.”
"Proud Philadelphians from the
USA and Maimons from the Dominican Republic who follow WVSR 1360.1 for its North
American and Latin American Music of the past and present have made the radio
station expansions happen. The new Power88.us will bring out the important
contributions of the American and Dominican Republic music makers," said
Van Stone, founder of West Philadelphia Van Stone Radio (WVSR). "Thanks to
Rosa Rodriguez popularity in Maimon, the Philadelphia and Maimon FM music scene
will have a broadcast platform like no other in local and international music. And
Power88.us The FM will make fm radio uniquely personal to listeners who love
talk also,” says Stone.
“Power88.us The FM " also known
under its call letters, WVSR will
establish stronger ties to the local music and talk community and will serve as
a positive force in building the creative relationship needed between Black
Peoples who are of the United States and the Dominican Republic. Power88.us will
entertain and inform audiences with the best music and talk of today, drawn
from a wide variety of genres that reflect positive society and our diverse
forms of Black musical and talk expression. Power88.us is committed to
providing a venue for local and international unsigned or no label musicians
and bands," said Van Stone. Live recordings
and live, in-studio performances will provide local and international popular people
with wide exposure that would not otherwise be available.
The best new and older music will be
on the music play list. Talk will help listeners to explore popular
American and Dominican music's influences and roots. Regular listeners will
learn not only what new and older music is but also what talented artists and
musical traditions created the pathways to Black Peoples’ music today.
Power88.us will hold to bringing
news and information about community concerns and drive greater focus on
leadership for a new audience of public radio listeners. The nonprofit has run
balanced music and talk for all ethnicities to feel right at home. The launch as
a new radio station happened because music stations are coming on the internet
but with a limited style for people interested in music news, interviews, special
features, weather and traffic in the USA and Latin America.
"Talented staff has been added
to the radio mix and some talented staff has returned to help create this new
station. And we're all very proud of the
family who will bring Power88.us to our national and international
listeners," says Stone.

'American Idol' crowns 14th season champion
'American Idol' crowns 14th season champion
Ryan Seacrest, left, announces Nick Fradiani the winner at the American Idol XIV finale at the Dolby Theatre on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, in Los Angeles. |
LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Nick Fradiani is the latest winner of "American Idol."
The
29-year-old rocker of Guilford, Connecticut, bested soulful 22-year-old
vocalist Clark Beckham of White House, Tennessee, to win the 14th
edition of the Fox talent competition.
"This is amazing," he told "Idol" host Ryan Seacrest. "This is the best day of my life."
Fradiani
joins such champions as Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Phillip
Phillips and Kris Allen, as well one more winner to be determined next
year. Fox announced earlier this week that the next season would be the
last for "Idol."
Before he was revealed as the winner on Wednesday, Fradiani dueted with singer-songwriter Andy Grammer.
"I
can't even think right now," Fradiani said after Seacrest informed him
that he received the most viewer
votes - without revealing the exact
number cast.
Fradiani's win came on the
strength of his renditions Tuesday of Matchbox 20's "Bright Lights,"
Jason Mraz's "I Won't Give Up" and "Beautiful Life," intended as his
first single. Beckham sang Ray Charles' "Georgia on
My Mind," Bill
Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine" and "Champion."
The two-hour extravaganza kicked off with Fradiani and Beckham joining Fall Out Boy on their song "Centuries."
The
series' penultimate finale also resurrected Chic, Ricky Martin, NKOTB,
Michael McDonald and Steven Tyler for performances, as well as judges
Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr.
The
once-blockbuster singing contest, which hit a peak of 30.3 million
viewers in 2005, is now averaging 9.15 million viewers per episode,
according to the Nielsen company.
Lopez, Urban
and Connick Jr. are due back at the judges' table for next year's 15th
and final "Idol" outing. Beckham had a few words of advice for those
looking to become the last-ever "Idol."
"You have to be good at lot of different things," he said. "It's not just singing a song."

Rangers advance in OT on Stepan goal, 2-1 over Caps
The New York Rangers celebrate their game winning overtime goal against the Washington Capitals in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference semifinals during the NHL hockey Stanley Cup playoffs, Wednesday, May 13, 2015, in New York. |
NEW YORK (AP)
-- Derek Stepan scored 11:24 in overtime, lifting the New York Rangers
past the Washington Capitals 2-1 and into the Eastern Conference finals
Wednesday night.
Stepan's wrist shot from the
left wing after he won a faceoff - a rarity for the Rangers - capped a
comeback from a 3-1 deficit in the series. The Rangers are the only team
to manage that in successive years, doing the same thing to Pittsburgh
in the second round in 2014.
Alex Ovechkin
scored in the first period for Washington, which has lost five Game 7s
in as many tries when leading a series 3-1. Kevin Hayes tied it in the
second.
New York, which had the NHL's best
record this season, will face Tampa Bay for a spot in the Stanley Cup
finals, where the Rangers lost to Los Angeles last spring. The series
begins Saturday at Madison Square Garden.

Phillies Lose Mother’s Day Showdown With Mets 7-4
PHILADELPHIA – MAY 10: Lucas Duda #21 of the New York Mets
doubles in the fourth inning during a game against the Philadelphia Phillies
at Citizens Bank Park on May 10, 2015 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Bartolo Colon became the first pitcher in the majors with six wins, and Curtis Granderson hit a two-run homer to lead the New York Mets over the Philadelphia Phillies 7-4 on Sunday.
Colon (6-1) wasn’t quite as good as he’s been much of the season, but he was good enough. The right-hander, who turns 42 this month, gave up four runs and eight hits with six strikeouts and no walks in six-plus innings.

of the Oregon Ducks looks on during the national anthem before the
College Football Playoff National Championship Game at AT&T Stadium
on January 12, 2015 in Arlington, Texas.
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — It might be tough to look at for some Eagles fans, but Marcus Mariota is on the cover of Sports Illustrated fresh off being selected by the Titans with the second overall pick in last week’s draft.
The rumors were flying all day on Thursday, as they did for the months leading up to the draft, that maybe, just maybe, Chip Kelly would be able to swing a deal to bring Mariota to Philadelphia.
