Cris Carter On DeSean Jackson: “Praying This Is The 2nd Biggest Mistake Eagles Made In Their History”











 
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Cris Carter, a fourth round draft pick of the Eagles in 1987, played three seasons with the team. In 1989, Carter was released by Buddy Ryan after tallying up 45 catches, for 605 yards, and 11 touchdowns, his best season to date, due to off-the-field issues.

Carter later admitted that Ryan released him as a result of his alcohol and drug addictions, and credits his former coach with helping him turn his life around.

Carter returned to the NFL as a Minnesota Viking in 1990 and became an eight-time Pro Bowl wide receiver and 2013 inductee into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Carter brought Ryan and his wife with him to the Hall of Fame, and Ryan was the only NFL coach he mentioned during his Hall of Fame speech.
