Award-winning videojournalist and photographerjournalist
Abraham EL, aka “Brother IB,” was born in Augusta, Ga. February 26 1980. Ten years later, a move to the Westside of Philadelphia
dramatically changed his future. In the 90’s and 2000’s he made his name as a
pioneer of rhythmic Hip-Hop at the City of Philadelphia Unity Daybreak and
Welcome Americabreak. Brother IB has a unique talent for taking Urban Videography
and Urban Photography pictures news in a hopeless neighborhood filled with blight
and gun violence days and nights and surviving in one piece. In the end of it
all IB presents photos that tells quite a different story of positive news and
community hope. Today he has founded his own photography group called Brother
IB Photography.
In 2005, Brother IB discovered his
ability and passion to capture the extraordinary beauty of the City Park, music
artist, political leader, children service worker, and barber when his friend wanted
a picture of the Fairmount Park to decorate the classroom wall. With the confidence
of an experienced photographer, Brother IB went out and bought a videocamera
setup, walked in the park, and started snapping away, capturing the beauty and
power of Philly statues. "IB’s view" is a unique and often high tech
perspective of kids, community leaders, urban parks, music artist, and barber hair
styling from the inside out, captured in photos for all to enjoy from the
comfort of the kitchen table, porch or living room.
