Andrew Mount was born on June 25th,
1984. Mount grew up in the suburbs of Philadelphia around farmland and
little used roads. He ultimately graduated from Perkiomen Valley High
School in 2003 after focusing mainly on Music and AP Science and Math courses.
Directly after graduating, Andrew
went on a road trip across the U.S. and back, the trip taking a total of 8
weeks and taking him through about 30 states. After returning, he attended
Rider University for a degree in Biochemistry, but left before graduating to
move to Chicago.
While there, Mount ended up buying a
house and began building what he thought was going to be the rest of his
life. While working 2 jobs and trying to get his own business off the
ground, the housing market crash of 2008 happened. Andrew ended up losing
everything he had built at that point, and thus decided he wanted to move back
to Philadelphia.
Since moving back, he has attended
the Community College of Philadelphia and graduated with an Associates in
Science and has contended with trying his best to keep several jobs through
what one might call an alcohol problem.
While employed at a cafe in 30th
Street Station, Mount met someone who had just moved to the city several months
earlier from Alaska. The two ended up discovering that they had similar
interests in music and, despite the fact that he had not played in quite some
time, Mount was invited over for a jam session with him on drums and his friend
on guitar, who had also just moved from Alaska. That was the beginning of
Andrew’s part as a member of a band called "Grey Fox".
Grey Fox lasted about 3.5 years,
going through a couple singers through that time, and with the release of a
self recorded, mixed, mastered, and published EP called "It Never Ends".
Just before breaking up, the band was invited up to the CBGB festival in NYC at
no cost, the result of apparently being noticed through our EP by one of the
organizers.
Since the breakup of the band, Mount
has spent a majority of his time trying to help those who he met along the way
with whatever problems they come across that they feel they cannot solve on
their own. Through all of these experiences Andrew Mount has learned
never to judge too hastily, to love Philadelphia for its amazing people and
their resilience, and to never allow him to stop learning as much as he can
from any source he can get his hands on."
