Prince Died of an Opioid Overdose, Law Enforcement Confirms
Law enforcement officials confirmed to the AP Thursday morning that legendary musician Prince died of an opioid overdose.
The performer was found dead in his Minnesota home on Apr. 21. An autopsy was completed on Apr. 22 but no cause of death was announced.
At the time, the medical examiner’s office said it would “not release
information until the exam is complete and all results are obtained.”
The AP’s report follows weeks of speculation that Prince was struggling with an addiction to opioid painkillers. TMZ had reported that Prince had been treated for a drug overdose six days before his death.
