LeSean McCoy ‘Stands By’ Racial Comments Made Towards Chip Kelly
PHILADELPHIA, PA - SEPTEMBER 7: Running back LeSean
McCoy #25 of the Philadelphia Eagles talks to head coach Chip
Kelly on the
sidelines during the game against the Jacksonville
Jaguars on September
7, 2014 at Lincoln Financial Field in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Approximately two months after the trade, in an interview with ESPN the Magazine, McCoy implied there were racial reasons Kelly released and traded some of his star players saying, “You see how fast he got rid of all the good players. Especially all the good black players. He got rid of them the fastest.”
McCoy joined the 94WIP Mike & Ike Show on Tuesday, five days ahead of his Week 14 return to Philadelphia, with hosts Michael Barkann, Ike Reese, and weekly guest Seth Joyner. McCoy refused to take back the controversial comments.
“I’m not gonna change anything I say,” McCoy said on 94WIP, when asked about the racial comments made back in May. “I stand by everything I said before. And I don’t have no problems with Chip, no hatred.
Nothing at all. Everything I said, I stand by it. I don’t take it back.
